Review Summary:

Although normal TV sets do their job quite nicely, the reality is that having a smart TV which allows us to connect to the web just manages to take the experience to a whole new level. With this in mind, I tested the LG Smart TV 42LB650V and here are my thoughts on it!

Design

LG does a great job with their smart TVs, and the same can be said here. The color is metallic and appealing to the eye, but at the same time the stand included with the package is very attractive and definitely one of a kind. As a side note, it’s important to state that the device does come with integrated 3D glasses which is a major plus.

Features and functionality

Like most LG products, this one comes with its own store, which allows you to access media without a problem. I was impressed with the content in the store and really feel that there’s no need for external media, although you are free to bring that if you want.

The search function allows you to speak and search, which means that the results are plain amazing. There’s no need for typing and I have to say that I like this a lot. It’s one of the best search functions out there.

There’s even a recording function which I found to come in handy, however the issue here is that the quality seems to suffer. Still, being able to record is nice and truly fun.

In regards to the 3D capabilities, LG Smart TV 42LB650V is somewhere in the middle. The glasses look well, but the 3D content isn’t as clear as I expected, although it will please most users so there’s that!

When it comes to adjusting colors and modifying content, LG Smart TV 42LB650V does a stellar job, because you can easily adjust pixel regions on the screen, with results that are truly impressive. It could be better, of course, but the device does a great job in placing customizability in front of the user.

Visualization angles are very good, an impressive thing considering that the screen isn’t that thick to begin with.

Voice and sound are clear and their reproduction is stellar, something that one can rarely find in these TV sets to be honest. The Smart Sound is specifically useful, and I enjoyed using the product a lot thanks to it, as the sound clarity exceeded my expectations.

Is it worth the money?

LG Smart TV 42LB650V does have its ups and downs, but overall it’s a solid product, one that offers a lot of interesting functions. You will appreciate the high quality and great design, as well as the wonderful capabilities that it offers, so overall this is indeed a great purchase, especially if you want to use it in the long run as the main TV set in your home.

Pros

  • Large screen size
  • Great connectivity
  • Cons

  • Troublesome recording
  • Sometimes the OS works very slow
  • The remote isn’t provided with the highest quality
