Le Creuset is really very know for its cast iron line of kitchen cookware but they do have other lines as well. Couple of years ago I came across their stoneware and bought a couple of pieces, the square casserole dish with the lid has been an excellent addition to my kitchen. It is easy to use and clean and does a wonderful job of evenly cooking and baking. Specially for smaller portions for two or three people it is a great size. I make chicken with several types of seasoning and sauces, as well as lasagna other meals easily.The results are always excellent. When you wash it all the burnt pieces wash away easily without much scrubbing, all you need to do is to soak it in water for a while and wash it with a sponge or you can put it in the dishwasher since it is dishwasher-safe. And when done washing it looks as good as new. All the LE CREUSET pieces including this square casserole dish come in several colors currently I believe there are 9 colors available, and of course the manufacturer changes and adds colors almost on a an annual basis but some of the basics such as red have been around for a long time but there are a lot of different shades of blue and aqua.
Impermeable enamel on the exterior of these dishes resists scratches and stains, and it is safe for cutting on with knives and its almost nonstick glazed interior helps easily release foods for easy cleanup. Maximum oven-safe temperature for these stoneware is 500°F / 260°C and don't forget to use your oven mitts for lifting at all times. They do get hot, even in microwave be safe and handle it with mitts. Also if you use it under a broiler allow a gap of no less than 2.5 inches between the rim of the dish and the heat source. Going from freezer to oven do not place it in preheated oven but place the dish in the oven and then turn your oven on so it warms with your oven temperature.But most importantly do not use this type of dishes on stove top it will break!
