One of the best technical investments I have made in the last few years. I bought couple of other make and model storage drives which are sitting in my office one doesn't have enough capacity the other one is making weird noises and only works with my network system none of which are from G-Technology. So few years ago when I exchanged my 17-inch MacBook for an 11-inch MacBook Air which I love to this day I encountered a problem storage. I have lots of photos, music and applications and like to have access to my documents and other files. While MacBook Air is great due having a flash drive which is amazingly fast storage-wise it could use some help so I decided to invest in a G-Technology G-DRIVE mobile with Thunderbolt Portable Hard Drive with 1TB capacity. Now I get to carry everything I need with me anywhere I go to the office, or even traveling overseas I don't have to worry about my files and application and have everything at my disposal.
The drive is incredibly fast works both USB as well as with Thunderbolt connection, it is light and compact and best of all it is very reliable no extra cables for plugging into AC. If I need to use it on the plane it does not take much space and I have access to movies and music without worrying about storage. It comes in an aluminum casing and with all the cables, a 3-year limited warranty, it is compatible with mac as well as PC and has a speed rate of 136mb/second. It has USB 3.0 which is really fast and thunderbolt is a fast alternative as well.
It is definitely worth every penny. G-Technology also makes other models that are USB only or with Firewire so you can make your own choice of the type of connection. It is also a great storage system for backups to keep your data safe. Weighs less than 9 oz. and combines 1TB capacity and a 7200RPM hard drive. It works right of the box the drive features a silent, fan-less design with an integrated cooling system to ensure reliable operation and long life. Before disconnecting the drive you simply need to un-mount the system by simply dragging the G-DRIVE mobile with Thunderbolt icon to the trash and the disconnect the cable and when you re-connect the cable the drive automatically mounts and shows on your desktop.
