Review Summary:

This new adapter is the fastest powerline adapter available on the market after ZyXel PLA5206KIT. It is priced at $130 for a kit of two or $70 for a single unit, at present it is one of the most expensive Powerline adapters, costing twice the price of its contenders.

The Comtrend PG-9172 is straightforward to use. It converts existing electrical wiring of home right into a network cable with 2 units, which conveniently extends a wired network at home with wider coverage. With speed many times faster than regular Ethernet, the Comtrend PG-9172 G.hn is an excellent fix when you really need to bring Internet to a place like basement where Wi-Fi signal is beyond reach.

Like other power line adapters on the market, the Comtrend PG-9172 employs a conventional snap-in design, just like a three-prong power adapter of a small electronic appliance which may easily be connected to any wall socket.

Comtrend PG-9172 measure 3.7 inches by 2.4 inches by 1.4 inches (93mm x 59.6mm x 35mm). I discovered that this adapter could easily block an adjacent wall socket as a result of its design. It doesn’t have a pass-through socket which means you could have problem locating a suitable socket to turn it on. Although this problem is with most power line adapters of the same design and is made worse by the fact they can’t function properly if not plugged directly into the wall, and not via a surge protector or power strip.

The Comtrend PG-9172 adapter has a Gigabit network port and on top it has three indicator lights for the connection strength, network status and security. Close to the network port, there's a dedicated button for configuration to turn on the adapter's security feature.

When it comes to set up, PG-9172 is simple and straightforward, anyone can set it up but if you are confused read the manual included in the pack. The Comtrend PG-9172 Adapter can add up to 16 devices a power line network, which is mostly the case with most power line adapters.

If you desire Powerline Adapter that is super-fast Comtrend PG-9172 PG-9172 can be your best choice but be ready to pay the price.
